Authorization for Aquamation: If you have any questions about the aquamation process, we’re here to help. Just give us a call at 910-660-6539. Before we can move forward, a signed authorization form is required. Because aquamation is an irreversible and final process, it’s important that you understand how it works and what options are available to you before giving consent. Scientifically known as alkaline hydrolysis, aquamation mirrors the natural decomposition that occurs when a body is laid to rest in the earth. We use a gentle combination of water flow, heat, and alkalinity to accelerate that natural process, which takes approximately 20 hours to complete. At the end, only the mineral content of the bones remains. This is pure calcium phosphate. These remains are dried, processed into a fine powder, and placed in a custom engraved urn for return to you. This final step is similar to what’s done after flame cremation. For our private aquamation service, your pet is placed in an individual cradle with an identification tag to ensure that all of their remains are kept together and returned with care. Along with the ashes, we provide a clay paw print and a lock of fur sealed in an epoxy heart to help you honor your pet’s memory. We want you to feel completely comfortable with every part of this process, and we’re happy to answer any questions you may have before you sign the authorization form.
